Terry Fox Run

 Dear parents,


This Tuesday, September 29th, will be our annual Terry Fox run. We ask that all students who are able to, bring 'a toonie for Terry' to raise money for cancer research.

Orange Shirt Day

A friendly reminder that this Wednesday is Orange Shirt Day!



Grade 5: Sep. 28- Oct. 2

 

 GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:


French: We will be reviewing ER verbs in the present and past tenses. There will be an evaluation on Friday. In addition, students will write a text inspired by Terry Fox, an everyday superhero.

Math: Students will continue learn about whole numbers and place value. Students who do not know their numbers in French from 0- 100 should also be practicing them at home. There will be a math evaluation on Thursday,

English: We will read various texts and complete some writing activities as a follow-up.

Grade 4: Sep. 28- Oct. 2

 GRADE 4

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:


French: We will be looking at the difference between the verbs 'avoir' and ‘être’ in the present tense, including expressions that use these verbs. Students will write a pretest on Monday just to see what they already know. They will then write the evaluation on Friday. In addition, students will be completing some activities about Terry Fox.

Math: We are continuing to learn about patterns with numbers and shapes. Students who do not know their numbers in French from 0- 100 should also be practicing them at home.

English: Students will continue with some creative writing activities as well as reading various texts.

Science: Students will do a small research project on a common decomposer of their choice.

Social Studies: We will continue to discuss general information about Alberta, such as the capital city and coat of arms. There will be an evaluation on the geography of Canada/ Alberta on Thursday. Students will receive a study sheet on Monday.

Grade 5: Sep. 21- 25

 GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:


French: We will be reviewing the verbs ‘avoir’ and ‘être’ in the present and past tenses. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Math: Students will learn about
whole numbers and place value. Students who do not know their numbers in French from 0- 100 should also be practicing them at home.

English: We will read various texts and complete some writing activities as a follow-up.

Science/ Social Studies: Mme Wozny will be teaching my grade 5’s science and social this year.

Grade 4: Sep. 21- 25

GRADE 4
Here is what we will be covering in class next week:


French: We are finishing the verb 'avoir' in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday. We will also be learning about the verb ‘être’ in the present tense and expressions that use this verb. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Please note that the format of both evaluations is very similar, and it should not be difficult for students to write both in the same week.

Math: We are continuing to learn about patterns with numbers and shapes. Students who do not know their numbers in French from 0- 100 should also be practicing them at home.

English: Students will continue with some creative writing activities as well as reading various texts.

Science: Students will continue to learn about the waste in our world.

Social Studies: Students will be looking at the geography of the prairie provinces as well as the rivers in Alberta.

Sep. 14- 16

 Hello Grade 4 Parents! Here is what we will be covering in class next week:


French: We are learning the verb 'avoir' in the present tense as well as expressions that use this verb. Students will learn to properly conjugate the verb 'avoir' in the present tense for the given subjects (ex: je, tu, il, nous, vous, ils).
In addition, students are asked to learn the 'Our Father' or 'Notre Pere' prayer in French as we say this prayer every morning.


Math: We are looking at patterns with numbers and shapes. Students who do not know their numbers in French from 0- 100 should also be practicing them at home.

English: We will be completing some creative writing activities as well as reading various texts.

Science: Students will be learning about the waste in our world.

Social Studies: Students will be looking at the geography of the world and gradually narrowing down to the geography of Alberta.
