Grade 4: May 30- June 2

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the reading program is due for Tuesday.
Students will finish their paragraphs about what they want to do when they’re older. This is due on Friday. Students will also learn about French comics.

Math: We will continue to learn about data analysis.

English: We will continue our novel study of Belle of Batoche.

Science: We will continue our unit on plant growth and change.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Alberta’s history. The good copies of the pamphlet are due next Monday.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: Building the Kingdom of God. They will also continue to learn about the Rosary with six accompanying prayers, and they will locate the twenty mysteries in the Bible. A reminder that our school is hosting the Sacramental Liturgy on Friday at 1:30 pm in the gym.

NOTE: An email was sent out on Friday regarding parent volunteers needed for our field trip to the landfill on Thursday. So far, I have not received any responses. We will have to cancel the field trip if we don’t have enough volunteers. We are covered for the field trip on Tuesday.

Grade 3: May 30- June 2

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should complete log 9 of their French at-home reading program by Thursday. This week, students are continuing to learn about vocabulary regarding camping. Additionally, they will learn to conjugate the verbs AVOIR and ÊTRE in the present tense.

Math: Students will finish the unit on data analysis.

English: We will continue the novel study on The Tale of Despereaux.

Science: Students will finish the unit on animal life cycles. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Students will receive a study guide on Tuesday. They are also working on an animal research project.

Social Studies: Presentations of the Tunisia project will be on Tuesday. Then, students will start to research a country of their choice.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: The Promise of the Holy Spirit. They will also continue to learn about the Rosary with six accompanying prayers, and they will locate the twenty mysteries in the Bible. A reminder that our school is hosting the Sacramental Liturgy on Friday at 1:30 pm in the gym.

Grade 4: May 23- 26

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the reading program is due for Tuesday.
Students will write paragraphs about what they want to do when they’re older. They will write in the ‘futur simple’. Students will continue with their guided reading in small groups, as well as learn about Asian Heritage Month.

Math: Students should be handing in their projects on area. This week, we will learn about data analysis.

English: We will continue our novel study of Belle of Batoche.

Science: We will start a new unit on plant growth and change.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Alberta’s history. The good copies of the pamphlet project should be completed by sometime next week (due date TBD).

Religion: There is no religion class this week due to swimming.

REMINDER: For swimming lessons this week, students need to bring a bathing suit, a towel, and a separate bag other than their backpack. It is recommended that students with long hair bring a brush. We will be walking regardless of the weather, so students need to be prepared to walk in the rain. If the smoke persists, we will wait for Mme Wozny to decide whether we go or stay at school.

Grade 4: May 15- 19

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the reading program is due for Monday.
Students will learn how to conjugate verbs in the ‘futur simple’. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Students will continue with their guided reading in small groups.

Math: We will continue our unit on measuring area. There will be a quiz on Thursday. Students are also working on a project where they draw a room (i.e., a bedroom) and calculate the area for every item.

English: We will continue our novel study of Belle of Batoche.

Science: Students will continue to work on a project where they build their own, original complex machine. Projects are due on Friday.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Alberta’s history.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: Building the Kingdom of God. They will also learn about the Rosary with six accompanying prayers, and twenty mysteries.

Grade 3: May 15- 19

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should be on log 9 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students are using writing conventions to edit their fractured fairy tales. The good copy is due on Friday.

Math: Students will finish their unit on measuring. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday. Then we will start a new unit on data analysis. Students have also been working on a math project where they design a garden and calculate the perimeter for each plant box. This should be done by the end of the week.

English: We are starting a novel study on The Tale of Despereaux.

Science: Students will continue to learn about animal life cycles.

Social Studies: We will continue with our unit on Tunisia. There will be a quiz on Thursday. Students will receive a study guide on Monday.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: The Promise of the Holy Spirit. They will also learn about the Rosary with six accompanying prayers, and twenty mysteries.

Grade 4: May 8- 12

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the reading program is due for Monday.
Students will learn how to conjugate verbs in the ‘futur proche’. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Additionally, they will complete their persuasive writing pieces for Friday. Students will also be doing some guided reading in small groups.

Math: Students who have not submitted their project called “L’horaire de ma journée” should do so ASAP. This week, we will be learning how to measure area.

English: We will start a novel study called Belle of Batoche. It’s a historical fiction novel by Jacqueline Guest, based on the events of the Red River Rebellion and the battle of Batoche.

Science: Students will continue to work on a project where they build their own, original complex machine.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Alberta’s history.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: Building the Kingdom of God. They will also learn about Mary, mothers, and women in the Bible. Additionally, students will be reciting the Hail Mary in English and French. There is a Marian Liturgy on Thursday at 10:00 am. Parents are welcome to attend.

Grade 3: May 8- 12

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should be on log 9 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students are writing their own fractured fairy tales. They should emphasize writing conventions (using a dictionary/ Bescherelle to edit their work, re-read their work, use the word wall etc.) when composing their stories.

Math: Students will continue to learn about measuring perimeter and area.

English: We are finishing our unit on fairy tales. Students are using StoryJumper to create fractured fairy tales (different from their French stories). This is due on Friday.

Science: Students will continue to learn about animal life cycles.

Social Studies: We will continue with our unit on Tunisia.

Religion: Students will continue unit 5: The Promise of the Holy Spirit. They will also learn about Mary, mothers, and women in the Bible. Additionally, students will be reciting the Hail Mary in English and French. There is a Marian Liturgy on Thursday at 10:00 am. Parents are welcome to attend.
