Grade 5: Feb. 28- Mar. 4

GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be learning about verbs conjugated in the ‘futur simple’. There will be an evaluation on Friday. We will also finish learning about the 6 traits of writing.

Math: There will be an evaluation on module 4 on Thursday. We will then start our next unit on fractions.

English: Students will learn about adjectives vs. adverbs. In addition, they will start to present their Black History Month projects.

Social Studies: Students will complete the project on chapters 5, 6 and 7. It is due next Monday, March 7th.

Religion: Students will start presenting their Black History Month projects. In addition, they will learn about Ash Wednesday and Lent.


REMINDER: Students are to bring a helmet, gloves, comfortable/ stretchy clothing, a face mask and a tuque for speed skating on Monday and Friday.

Grade 4: Feb. 28- Mar. 4

GRADE 4


Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be reviewing all the verbs learned thus far in the ‘passé composé’. In lieu of an evaluation, students will submit an assignment of 30 sentences that demonstrate proper conjugation of verbs in the past tense. This assignment is due on Friday.
A reminder that book reports and reading programs are due on Monday. Students are required to read 50 minutes in French and 50 minutes in English per week.

Math:  We will continue our new unit on telling time. Students should be practicing telling time on an analog clock.

English: There will be a quiz on Root Words on Tuesday. Students will also be presenting their Black History Month projects.

Science: We will continue the project where students can either build a laser maze or a sundial.

Social Studies: We will finish the project on the other geographic regions of Alberta. It is due on Thursday.

 Religion: Students will start presenting their Black History Month projects. In addition, they will learn about Ash Wednesday and Lent.

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be presenting their oral French projects. We will also be learning about the 6 traits of writing.

Math: We will continue with module 4: measure.

English: We will learn about homophones. There will be an evaluation on Friday. In addition, students will be working on their Black History Month projects.

Social Studies: Students will continue the project on chapters 5, 6 and 7.

Religion: Students will be working on their Black History Month projects.


REMINDER: Pink Shirt Day is on Wednesday, February 23rd.

French: There will be an evaluation on Wednesday on the verb ALLER in the ‘passé composé’ in the affirmative and negative form. We will also be learning how to properly conjugate other verbs that use ÊTRE in the ‘passé composé’. There will be an evaluation on Friday.
A reminder that reading programs are due on February 22nd. Students are required to read 50 minutes in French and 50 minutes in English per week.

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will continue their research project for an oral presentation.

Math: We will continue with module 4: measure.

English: We will learn about synonyms and antonyms. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday.

Social Studies: Students will continue the project on chapters 5, 6 and 7.

Religion: Students will be learning about who St. Valentine was. They will also be finding quotations in the Bible about love.

Grade 4: Feb. 14- 16

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will learn about the verb ALLER in the ‘passé composé’.
A reminder that reading programs are due on February 14th. Students are required to read 50 minutes in French and 50 minutes in English per week.

Math:  We are finishing up with module 3. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday on multiplication and division.

English: We will be learning about contractions.

Science: There will be and evaluation of the Lights and Shadows unit on Tuesday.

Social Studies: We will continue the project on the other geographic regions of Alberta.

Religion: Students will be learning about who St. Valentine was. They will also be finding quotations in the Bible about love.

Grade 4/5 Parents:

The Mardi Gras online Silent Auction is Friday, February 25th, 6h30 – 8h30pm

We will be having an online silent auction. Each grade is assigned a themed basket.

Will you help us fill those baskets? Many small items can make one great basket!

Grade 5: Feb. 7- 11

GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be doing a research project for an oral presentation. In addition, they should be reviewing their notes on “le genre et le nombre dans la phrase”. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Students should also submit the following on Monday: comic strip, book reports, reading program and French homework assignment of 10 sentences.

Math: We will continue with module 4: measure.

English: We will learn about prefixes and suffixes.

Social Studies: Students should be reviewing chapter 4. There will be an evaluation on Tuesday. Then we will start a project on chapters 5, 6 and 7.

Religion: Students will be learning about how to find quotations in the Bible.

Grade 4: Feb. 7- 11

GRADE 4


Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will learn about the verbs AVOIR and ÊTRE in the ‘passé composé’. There will be an evaluation on Friday. In addition, students will write a review quiz on ER, IR and RE verbs in the ‘passé composé’ on Monday.
A reminder that reading programs and book reports for January are due on February 7th. A new reading program will start on Monday. Students will be required to read 50 minutes in French and 50 minutes in English per week.

Math:  We will continue learning about division. Students should be practicing their basic division facts up to 49/ 7.

English: We will be learning about prefixes and suffixes.

Science: We are continuing with our unit on Lights and Shadows.

Social Studies: Students should be reviewing their notes on the Rocky Mountains. There will be an evaluation on Tuesday. We will then start a project on the other geographic regions of Alberta.

Religion: Students will be learning about how to find quotations in the Bible.
