Grade 5: Nov. 29- Dec. 3

GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be learning about the ‘imparfait’ for ER, IR and irregular verbs. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Math: We will continue module 3, multiplication and division. We will be covering long multiplication.

English: We will complete our unit on spelling rules with suffixes, plural and past tense. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday. Then students will complete some reading comprehension activities.

Social Studies: Students will continue with their individual projects about the Lake Region of Canada.

Religion: Students will be learning about Advent, week 1. In addition, they will have an introduction to unit 2: Called to Gather in Faith.

Grade 4: Nov. 29- Dec. 3

GRADE 4

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be reviewing all of the verbs learned thus far in the present tense (AVOIR, ÊTRE, ER, IR and ALLER). There will be a pretest on Monday (not for marks) and an evaluation on Friday. In addition, students will be learning about irregular verbs.
A reminder that the French Reading Program is due on MONDAY. Students should be reading out loud for 20 minutes a day in Frenchfour times a week for a total of 80 minutes.

Math:  We will finish our unit on subtraction. There will be an evaluation on Thursday. We will then move on to addition vs. subtraction.

English: We will complete our unit on homophones, synonyms and antonyms. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday. Then we will move on to reading comprehension.

Science: Students will research environmental organizations and how they help to protect Earth.

Social Studies: Students will continue research projects on a wild animal of Alberta.

Religion: Students will be learning about Advent, week 1. In addition, students will have an introduction to unit 2: A New Beginning.

Grade 5: Nov. 22- 26

GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will finish writing their personal letters. They are due on Tuesday. Students will also complete reading comprehension activities.

Math: We will continue module 3, multiplication and division. Students should be practicing their basic multiplication facts. There will be an evaluation on Thursday.

English: We will complete our unit on sentence structure. There will be an evaluation on Tuesday on fragments, run-on sentences, and sentences. Then we will start a unit on rules of spelling with suffixes, past tense, and plural words.

Social Studies: Students will continue with their individual projects about the Lake Region of Canada.

Religion: Students will be reviewing unit 1.

Grade 4: Nov. 22- 26

GRADE 4

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be learning about the verb ALLER in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Friday.
A reminder that the French Reading Program is due on MONDAY. Students should be reading out loud for 20 minutes a day in Frenchfour times a week for a total of 80 minutes.

Math:  We will be continuing with unit 2, with a focus on subtraction.

Science: Students will continue to develop a flow chart for a consumer product that indicates the source materials, final product, its use, and method of disposal.

GRADE 5

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be learning about transition words in writing. They will also write personal letters and apply those transition words.

Math: We will continue module 3, multiplication and division. Students should be practicing their basic multiplication facts up to 9 X 9.

English: Students will continue with the unit on sentence structure.

Social Studies: There will be an evaluation on chapter 2 on Tuesday. Then we will move on to chapter 3. We will also be celebrating Métis Week.

Religion: Students will continue to learn about the following theme: Models of a Holy Life.

A REMINDER THAT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH, IS ODD SOCKS DAY. STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR MISMATCHED SOCKS. 

Grade 4: Nov. 15- 19

GRADE 4

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will be learning about verbs ending in IR in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Friday.
A reminder that the French Reading Program is due on MONDAY. Students should be reading out loud for 20 minutes a day in Frenchfour times a week for a total of 80 minutes.

Math:  We will continue with our unit on addition. Students should know their basic addition facts up to the sum of 10, 000. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday.

English: We will continue with our unit on sentence structure.

Science: Students will learn to develop a flow chart for a consumer product that indicates the source materials, final product, its use, and method of disposal.

Social Studies: Students will complete an activity booklet on dinosaurs. In addition, we will celebrate M
étis Week.

Religion: Students will continue to learn about the following theme: Growing in Holiness with the Saints.

English: Students will finish an assignment where they demonstrate proper use of punctuation. It is due on Tuesday. Then we will move on to sentence structure.

Social Studies: Students will complete chapter 2: the Atlantic region of Canada.

Religion: Students will continue to learn about the following theme: Service: Remembrance Day and Friendships. They will also learn the Nicene Creed.

Grade 4: Nov. 8- 10

GRADE 4

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students will continue learning about verbs ending in ER in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Wednesday.
A reminder that the French Reading Program is due on MONDAY. Students should be reading out loud for 20 minutes a day in Frenchfour times a week for a total of 80 minutes.
