Grade 4: Jan. 31- Feb. 3

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the French reading program is due for Tuesday.
Students will be learning how to conjugate the verbs AVOIR and ÊTRE in the passé composé. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Students will need to know when to use AVOIR and 
ÊTRE. We will also continue our reading groups with GB+ and learn about "le déterminant".

Math: We will continue our unit on multiplication. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts up to 9 X 9. There will be a quiz on Wednesday.

English: We will finish presentations of the music research project. Then, we will move on to study prefixes and suffixes, as well as start to learn about Black History Month.

Science: We will continue our unit on Lights and Shadows.

Social Studies: Students will continue their project on the different geographical regions of Alberta.

Religion: Students will continue unit 3: The Kingdom of God. Students will also learn the liturgical season of ordinary time. They will complete the “Many Names for Jesus” project as well as learn about growing in faith through the Sacraments. Additionally, for part of Faith in Action, students will prepare a St. Valentine’s activity for their grade one buddies.


A REMINDER THAT BOOK REPORTS ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST.

Grade 3: Jan. 31- Feb. 3

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should be submitting log 5 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students will continue to learn about the plural form of words. Additionally, students will complete their music project in which they are to find and research a song from their culture/ heritage. This is due on Friday.

Math: We will continue with our unit on subtraction. There will be a quiz on Wednesday. Students will be given one subtraction problem, and they must show as many strategies as they’ve learned in class to solve the same problem. There is a handout of strategies that they can review at home. It is also posted to the Google Classroom.

English: Students will continue to learn about parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs etc. They will also complete some reading comprehension activities and start to learn about Black History Month.

Science: We will continue our unit on sound and hearing.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Peru. They should be reviewing their notes daily as there will likely be a quiz in a week.

Religion: Students will continue unit 3: Born of the Spirit. Students will also learn the liturgical season of ordinary time. They will complete the “Many Names for Jesus” project as well as learn about growing in faith through the Sacraments. Additionally, for part of Faith in Action, students will prepare a St. Valentine’s activity for their grade one buddies.

Grade 4: Jan. 23- 26

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: A reminder that the French reading program is due for Monday.
Students will be learning how to conjugate verbs ending in RE in the passé composé. There will be an evaluation on Thursday. It will cover ER, IR and RE verbs. We will also start our guided reading groups with GB+.

Math: We will continue our unit on multiplication. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts up to 9 X 9.

English: Students will continue their music research project. Presentations start on Wednesday.

Science: We will continue our unit on Lights and Shadows.

Social Studies: Students will start a project on the different geographical regions of Alberta.

Religion: Students will start unit 3: The Kingdom of God. Students will also learn the liturgical season of ordinary time. They will complete the “Many Names for Jesus” project as well as learn about growing in faith through the Sacraments.

REMINDER: Parent-teacher conferences will be held in person on Thursday evening, and virtually on Friday.

Grade 3: Jan. 23- 26

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should be on log 5 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students will learn about the plural form of words. They will complete the good copy of their writing assignment about their Christmas Holidays. This will be due on Thursday. Additionally, students will continue their music project in which they are to find and research a song from their culture/ heritage.

Math: We will continue with our unit on subtraction while linking strategies to addition. Students should be practicing their basic subtraction facts, including “borrowing across the zeros”. There is a YouTube video posted on the Google Classroom.

English: Students will continue to learn about parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs etc. They will also complete some reading comprehension activities.

Science: We will continue our unit on sound and hearing.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Peru.

Religion: Students will start unit 3: Born of the Spirit. Students will also learn the liturgical season of ordinary time. They will complete the “Many Names for Jesus” project as well as learn about the Sacraments.

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

Students will be learning how to conjugate verbs ending in IR in the passé composé. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Math: We will continue our unit on multiplication. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts up to 9 X 9.

English: Students will continue their music research project. It is due next Monday.

Science: We will continue our unit on Lights and Shadows.

Social Studies: We will finish studying the physical geography of the Rocky Mountains. There will be an evaluation on Thursday. Students received a study guide last week.

Religion: Students will complete and review unit 2: A New Beginning. Students will also do an activity in their visual journal about the many names for Jesus in the Bible. The New Year liturgy will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm. Mme Boles’ class is putting on the celebration.

Grade 3: Jan. 16- 20

French: Students should be on log 5 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students will continue to learn about punctuation. They will complete a writing assignment where they talk about their Christmas holidays. This will be due on Friday. Additionally, students will start a music project in which they are to find and research a song from their culture/ heritage.

Math: We will continue with our unit on subtraction while linking strategies to addition.

English: Students will learn about parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs etc.

Students will be learning how to conjugate verbs ending in ER in the passé composé. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Math: We will start with our unit on multiplication. Students should be practicing their multiplication facts up to 9 X 9.

English: Students will start a music research project.

Science: We will start a new unit on Lights and Shadows.

Social Studies: We will continue to study the physical geography of the Rocky Mountains.

Religion: Students will continue unit 2: A New Beginning. Students will also learn about the last week of the Christmas season in the church. They look at the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. In addition, they will learn about Epiphany and the hymn “We Three Kings”.

Grade 3: Jan. 9- 13

Here is what we will be covering in class next week:

French: Students should have completed log 4 of their French at-home reading program. This week, students will be learning about punctuation. They will also have some New Year’s activities to complete.

Math: We will continue with our unit on addition. We will also look at subtraction strategies.

English: Students will start a “Music Around the World” research project.

Science: We will continue our unit on sound and hearing.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Peru.

Religion: Students will continue unit 2: The Road to Bethlehem. Students will also learn about the last week of the Christmas season in the church. They will compare their homes at Christmas with the stable where Jesus was born. In addition, they will learn about Epiphany and the hymn “We Three Kings”.
